Reception
Greg Parto of Allmusic described the music on Second Coming as having "mammoth guitar riffs, classic rock vocals, hefty drumming, and a touch of experimentalism thrown in from time to time."[1] Janiss Garza wrote, "In spite of occasional pretension and high dramatics on "The War" and "The Song" (in addition to an obvious affection for generic song titles), Second Coming still manage, through pure muscle, to bring grunge up to date."[2] Tim Verhoeff of Sputnikmusic wrote "this is a very well written and performed rock album...with a lot of highlights. Great sludge-AIC-type rock songs like 'Confessional', more up-tempo rockers like 'Soft' and 'Unknown Rider' and beautiful ballads like 'Travisty' and 'The War'. An album that will take you back to the early nineties when a few bands out of Seattle changed the game. This could have been one of those bands, but that wasn’t meant to be."[3]
